Notes and tasks for Windows and Android. Everything is encrypted on your device, and the sync server stores only ciphertext, so it can read neither your notes nor your attachments. You sign in with Zento ID, and a notes password unlocks your notes.

What ZentoNotes does

End-to-end encryption

Notes, folders, tasks and attachments are encrypted on your device with XChaCha20-Poly1305. The server stores only ciphertext.

Notes password

The key is derived from your password on the device with Argon2id, and the password is never sent to the server. A new device can also be added without the password, by confirming on an already connected device with a verification code.

Live-formatting editor

Headings, lists, checklists, quotes, code, tables and links are shown as you type, with no separate preview mode. Notes can be exported to Markdown.

Images and files

Images and files up to 25 MB are encrypted the same way as the note text.

Folders, search and trash

Folders, full-text search and pinned notes. Deleted notes stay in the trash for 30 days.

Tasks and Today

A due date, time and priority for each task. The Today view collects tasks due today and overdue ones.

Reminders

Reminders arrive as system notifications on Windows and Android.

Sync and offline use

Notes sync between your devices. Without a connection the app keeps working and sends the changes later.

Safety

How your notes are protected

The server knows neither your notes password nor the encryption key, and cannot read your data.
If you forget the notes password and lose all connected devices, your notes cannot be recovered.
